I painted ‘Hopscotch’ in January and early Feb 2026, when the south-west of England experienced its wettest January and February on record. While it gave me blissful hours feeling warm and dry in my studio, the feeling of being hemmed in out of the rain brought back childhood memories of not being allowed outside to play. Being in my studio felt like playing ‘Hopscotch’ inside!
